Stepping into Leadership with Confidence with Molly Asplin

Today, we’re diving into the world of leadership, and adding confidence as you move into that role. I’ve got five tips to share with you, complete with some of my own triumphs and learning moments. We’ll talk about who you’re here to serve, how to add value, and why choosing to grow every day is the secret to leadership success. I’m all about nurturing trust and credibility, so you can step up and shine as the leader you’re meant to be.

Talking Points:

02:10 Sharing Stories

When I talk about sharing personal stories, particularly those where you’ve faced and overcame challenges, it’s about more than just storytelling. It’s a powerful way to position yourself as a leader. By opening up and being vulnerable, you’re able to build a deeper connection and trust. It shows that you’re human and that you’ve navigated through difficulties, which can be incredibly inspiring and relatable to others.

06:42 Staying a Few Steps Ahead

I’ve found that you don’t need to be a world-renowned expert to be a leader. Instead, being just a few steps ahead of those you’re guiding can be incredibly effective. By sharing the insights and lessons you’re currently learning, you can build trust and establish yourself as a leader. It’s about being on the journey with them and offering guidance based on your recent experiences.

10:56 Being Specific in Helping

When it comes to helping others, specificity is key. Be clear about who you want to help and how you can help them. This clarity not only helps you attract and engage with potential clients or team members, but it also ensures that your efforts are tailored and impactful. It’s about understanding their needs and offering solutions that resonate with them.

14:15 Creating Value

Leading a free group has been a game-changer for me. It’s an opportunity to build trust with my audience and provide them with real value. This kind of space will allow you to understand your audience’s challenges and needs, which in turn helps you refine your business offerings. It’s a win-win situation where you can offer support and guidance while also gaining insights into your audience.

15:31 Choosing Growth

Choosing to grow, both personally and professionally, is a conscious decision you should make every day. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing new challenges. This mindset helps you build confidence and strengthens your belief in yourself as a leader. It’s not always easy, but the rewards of growth far outweigh the comfort of inaction.
