Uncommiting To Commit To Your Goals

This solo episode today is all about commitment to your goals for the new year, how to keep those commitments, and stepping into the version of your future self that you want to be. I give a little insight into what it takes to focus on core goals, the processes behind it, and the actions needed along the way.

Talking Points:

03:14 Goals

05:30 Control

09:42 Time

13:04 Process

17:58 Actions

Goals

Sometimes we have to uncommit to lesser goals to help us commit to our bigger goals. We can get so caught up in these small goals and feel like we need to do them, but really we should be focusing on things that will make a bigger difference. So if you have more than three goals, you have none because you are not spending that thick time on them that you should be.

Control

A lot of times we spread ourselves so thin that we start playing the victim. We think we don’t have control when we do. Ask yourself, what are you saying yes to that your future self will say no to? You have the power now to take control of your time to drive your future forward. Weed out the things that are not working for you and prioritize the things that are.

Time

Taking control of your time means getting into a flow that is better suited to your wants and needs. When you dedicate time to tasks and throw out distractions, you are committing to those three goals that you set aside and not commiting to a bunch of goals that aren’t in alignment with what you need. How you spend your time is a reflection of what you are truly committed to.

Process

Don’t change your goal, change your process. If something isn’t working and you can’t reach your goal, don’t give up on it. Figure on what you need to switch up in your process so you can reach that goal. Don’t let time get in the way either, figure out what to change to get things done in a more efficient way in a timely manner versus how you are currently going about it.

Actions

It takes breaking things down, figuring out what steps you need to take, and putting in motion the actions towards achieving what you want to achieve. If you do the right things for long enough, you will see results.
