Amanda kicks off the conversation by speaking about the transition into motherhood and all of the physical, mental, and spiritual transformations that happen when someone becomes a parent. A lot of times people don’t consider all of the changes that happen. Becoming a parent is life-altering, and Amanda’s new book “The New Mom Code” brings light to this topic.
In many cases, motherhood helps motivate people into becoming a better version of themselves. There’s a drive to want to show your kids how to be strong, resilient, and successful in life. Becoming a mom doesn’t mean you have to give up on the things that sparked your joy before parenthood, in fact, it should provide a bigger drive to make things happen.
Amanda talks about a chapter in her book where she discusses falling in love with the new version of yourself after having a child. It’s important to embrace your post-baby body, re-discover things that you love to do, and do something fulfilling in your work or home life. You are going to change as a parent, so make it a truly powerful transformation.
Go For It
Sometimes you just have to go for it. Reach for those dreams that you’ve been sitting on and use now as the time to start. Amanda talks about wanting to share her thoughts on the journey of motherhood with others, so she did. She jotted down ideas whenever she had the chance and wrote a book with nothing but her phone. Don’t be afraid to go after your hopes and desires, even in the crazy seasons of life.
For parents, there are voices that come from all directions that tell you that you aren’t good enough or not doing things the right way. You have to be able to tell yourself that this simply isn’t true or detach yourself from the things causing you to question yourself. Be rooted in your reality, not someone else’s.
We spend so much worrying because we think it will change the outcome, which is simply not true. We need to stop delaying joy because we feel like we can only get results from going through these worry driven steps. Real life is having challenges but enjoying life through the hard parts.
