Talking Points:

00:02 Shifting Spaces

Meredith has experienced a remarkable evolution throughout her career. After realizing that her path on the competitive Broadway stage was not going to work out, she adeptly shifted her focus to teaching music to young children. This, and her journey into motherhood, transitioned her to adapt and redefine her sense of self. After spending six months traveling extensively, she moved to working for a personal assistant service, where she uncovered her natural talent for organization.

06:01 Taking the Leap

After completing a certification program, Meredith took the entrepreneurial leap to establish her own organizing business, stepping back from her role as a personal assistant to focus on her new venture. Meredith reflects on the development of her leadership abilities and the crucial role that a supportive network has played throughout the various transitions in her career and the establishment of her business. She has worked diligently on bolstering her self-confidence and establishing the credibility of her new career.

16:02 Learning Along the Way

Meredith is learning to strike a delicate balance between maintaining self-confidence and the imperative to take action, gain hands-on experience, and learn from any setbacks along the way. She places great emphasis on the importance of recognizing and valuing one’s skills and worth within the marketplace, a message she finds particularly relevant for mothers re-entering the workforce. Meredith adopts a positive perspective on failures, viewing them as opportunities for learning and growth.

23:31 Growth in the Industry

Drawing from her performance background, Meredith has learned the importance of discipline and consistency, which she now applies to her pursuit of excellence in her organizing services. The field of home organizing is complex and multifaceted, involving not just the physical aspects of decluttering but also addressing the emotional and psychological components involved. Meredith is dedicated to ensuring that her clients feel fully supported and free from judgment throughout the organizing process.

29:12 Positive Effects

She expresses her appreciation for the flexibility and autonomy that entrepreneurship affords her, allowing her to prioritize her family’s needs when necessary.
